This morning I got a phone call from the woman Jake and I were planning on renting from. The apartment fell through because the gallery next to it decided that it would like to expand into the apartment. The gallery legally has first right of refusal, so there’s nothing we can do, especially since we haven’t signed any paperwork yet. She feels absolutely terrible since she really wanted us to have the apartment. She thought for sure the gallery wouldn’t take over the apartment since the last time she spoke with them, they said they didn’t have enough money to expand. Well, I guess they found some money real quick.

I’m hoping against hope that the expansion project doesn’t work out and that she can offer us the apartment again. In the meantime, we’re back to square one looking for a new place.
